I cannot believe they didn't and sounds like still don't see the need for a Deputy in the room where a victim and suspect of domestic violence is involved. In our Courtrooms there is always at LEAST two deputies whether it's DV related or not because it is recognized that Court proceedings can cause emotions to run high. Even with Deputies present, we have had fights where not only did additional Court deputies have to respond but RPD where the Courthouse is located. They say they can't afford to have a Deputy in each Courtroom but I wonder if it is cheaper to have Deputies in each Courtroom or pay for the lawsuits when incidents like this occur.
