Mixed feelings on this.
On one hand I agree that Mental Health Professionals need to report patients w/ violent, homicidal, or suicidal thoughts to proper authorities to prevent harm to themselves or others.
On the other hand Law Enforcement Officers need to be able to seek help w/o risk to their career, before problems become so big that they go past the point of no return.
A sad situation for all involved to include both the personal and professional families...

Not sure I would classify it as a "Mental Illness" somuch as a "Mental Breakdown". Not knowing the details of this case, I would hesitate jumping to any conclusions.

it is statistically proven that when one resorts to this desperate act, they are suffering from some sort of mental illmess. and as proven here, mental illness doesn't discriminate, it can affect anyone at any time regardless of what they do for a career. i only hope that the myths, stigma, and bullying of mental illness will soon come to the forefront and be dealt with in a dignified and respectful way.
