Its been said many times, if you take the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, the only people that have guns will be the criminals!
If you want to know what our forfather were saying when they wront the second ammendment just pay attention to how it starts.....
1st ammendment... FREEDOM
2nd ammendment.. BARE ARMS... TO PROTECT THAT FREEDOM
The writers of the constitution were clearly saying... the people of the united states are the kings and govenors of our lands and no government shall rule them except to rule themselves.
When the government (people) called upon its citizens (you and me) to come to its aid, what weapon did they bring... they brought the riffles from their home ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Do we need someone who is mentally unstable able to go to town and buy a fully automtic AK-47... no we dont. Do we need to let people who have demonstrated that they can not confine their actions and activities within the scope of the law that says don't shoot, steal or otherwise victimize people, no we dont. Do we need to allow juveniles to be able to purchase and carry weapons without the supervison of an adult, no we dont. That is where gun control needs to be. It does not need to interfere with my right to life, liberty and the persuite of my happyness to clean my gun while hanging upside down blindfolded in my tighty whities while watching Rambo!!!
Just another excuse for an elected person to grab the headlines with campaign retoric. There are laws that I'm not totally comfortable with but I remember my oath said that I will uphold the laws of the state and of the United States. He can ask state people to leave, he can ask federal people to leave because the Sheriff is suddenly all powerful. While you're asking all of these people to leave don't you dare file an application for any state or federal law enforcement assistance grants...you are the all powerful of the Commonwealth so you obviously can't pick and choose when you want to be a part of this nation and the rules that govern the rest of us.
mz66, be careful what you bait, you may hook something your little rod cant handle
Yeah Idiots... (eyeroll) those two sheriffs and the entire state of Wyoming... wake up...
If you're offended by this, brace yourself:
When I said "another idiot" I was alluding to another popular attention-w..*cough* hound, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
I'm offended by both of these clowns calling themselves law enforcement "professionals".
mz66 I TAKE OFFENSE AT YOU REFERRING TO THIS SHERIFF AS AN IDIOT.
Regarding cakdep's quote:
"“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” - Adolph Hitler, 1935, on The Weapons Act of Nazi Germany!"
The quote has been widely reproduced in blog posts and opinion columns about gun control, but it’s “probably a fraud and was likely never uttered,” according to Harcourt. “This quotation, often seen without any date or citation at all, suffers from several credibility problems, the most significant of which is that the date often given has no correlation with any legislative effort by the Nazis for gun registration, nor would there have been any need for the Nazis to pass such a law, since gun registration laws passed by the Weimar government were already in effect,” researchers at the useful website GunCite note.

Stop talking about Hitler: the Hitler gun control lie
Our fore fathers who wrote the constitution were very smart men! Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it!
The voters of the Sheriff's jurisdiction will have the ultimate say!

Martin Niemöller: "First they came for the Socialists..."

Martin Niemöller, a prominent Protestant pastor who opposed the Nazi regime. He spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. Germany, 1937.
— Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.
Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.
The quotation stems from Niemöller's lectures during the early postwar period. Different versions of the quotation exist. These can be attributed to the fact that Niemöller spoke extemporaneously and in a number of settings. Much controversy surrounds the content of the poem as it has been printed in varying forms, referring to diverse groups such as Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Jews, Trade Unionists, or Communists depending upon the version. Nonetheless his point was that Germans--in particular, he believed, the leaders of the Protestant churches--had been complicit through their silence in the Nazi imprisonment, persecution, and murder of millions of people.
Only in 1963, in a West German television interview, did Niemöller acknowledge and make a statement of regret about his own antisemitism (see Gerlach, 2000, p. 47). Nonetheless, Martin Niemöller was one of the earliest Germans to talk publicly about broader complicity in the Holocaust and guilt for what had happened to the Jews. In his book Über die deutsche Schuld, Not und Hoffnung (published in English as Of Guilt and Hope)--which appeared in January 1946--Niemöller wrote: "Thus, whenever I chance to meet a Jew known to me before, then, as a Christian, I cannot but tell him: 'Dear Friend, I stand in front of you, but we can not get together, for there is guilt between us. I have sinned and my people has sinned against thy people and against thyself.'"
Irony, thy name is Sheriff. Sheriffs are elected officials. As usual, this is just another idiot begging for attention. Politics? You bet. What we need is for the law to start enforcing the law--and if that's federal law, so be it. If you refuse to enforce it, then your job ain't worth a nickel--so don't be surprised if someone comes in to enforce it for you.
We need ALL jurisdictions to consistently contribute to the database used by the FBI to ensure felons can't purchase guns. We need to beef up funding to our ATF so they can do more to crack down on corrupt retail and private dealers, straw purchasers, and if this Sheriff is true to his word, corrupt Sheriffs as well, etcetera. We need idiots like this Sheriff to stop seizing the opportunity to enrich their own political capital with BS proclamations that don't contribute anything to solving the problems that plague our existing efforts to stop the flow of guns from legal to illegal distribution channels.
my applause these local law enforcement officers, It seems to be politics vs. the letter of the law.
