i cried after reading this. i lost my parental rights to my youngest son 13 years ago just before he turned 2. not because of abuse or neglect but because of misdiagnosed and mistreated mental illness. i was not correctly diagnosed and put on the correct medication til after his adoption had been finalized and the case closed and sealed.
my heart breaks for the children who obviously need court system intervention, as well as for the families who wrongfully get it. i still carry a lot of resentment towards my treating psychiatrist at that time, as i begged, pleaded, etc. to him that despite being on medication, it wasn't working and i didn't want to lose my infant son. unfortunately i did and am now patiently waiting out these last 3 years where i hope and pray we'll reunite once again.

Bite marks should have been a given. There's times when people need to step in imo, the old see something say something. Unfortunately these caseworkers are overloaded and have to sift through and investigate all parental disputes or domestic disputes between parties. It must be hard to make heads or tails on what's true and what's false. It's a sad reality but people will take custody of a kid just for the sake of entitlements, suppress child support, or they want the custodial parent out of their lives. I
