I like this protective message. A community-policing approach to school culture on-site and off. It informs public perception of police role. A contrast to simply stationing vehicles outside high-schools before and after school to discourage fighting, etc.
If WE are bothered by recent events, imagine how teenagers view society now.
Great idea and collaboration between agencies. Hope that thought and procedures are in place before plain clothes officers/detectives start entering and walking around schools...
I like this approach. Not only does it not add a complicated bureaucracy, but it taps into the "beat cop" of yore and gives adults and children at the school opportunities to interact positively with law enforcement--a good first step to encouraging people to react appropriately in a crisis.
