Sorry to say but over the years I have run accross many anti gun and personnel agenda driven chiefs of police and have watched them even down play heroic actions of officers who were not as well liked by the praticular administration at the time. The chief most likely does not want to encourage the armed citizen!
We had a shooting in Northeast Ohio were the actions of a retired officer being involved were totally down played by the chief even after the local media broadcast it!

My only question is if this guy was so pivotal in the situation, why would LE not recognize that alleged fact! I have been in a situation where I had to make the choice of shooting an armed assailant but made the decision not to because of possible collateral damage to innocents who were directly behind the subject!

Luckily he complied with my orders and placed the weapon on the ground! If he had not done that then I would have done what I am trained to do! Hopefully, my shot would have met it's intended target

Actually, there's no corroboration of any part of his story as far as we know. For all we know he made the whole thing up. Because the headline is written in a way that is pretty much fantasy I am disinclined to trust any part of his story. It's a non-story. He did nothing. Lots of other people didn't shoot either--kudos to all of them?

I'm thinking of starting a group (semi-jokingly) called "I READ THE ARTICLES, NOT JUST THE HEADLINES". It could raise the quality of discussion quite a bit, don't you think?

Maybe he did or maybe he didn't play a role in stopping the shooter, but kudos if he did and kudos even if he didn't as he was smart enough to not start shooting with others in the background...

In other words, bulldung--nobody saved anything, no story, no media blackout.

This story is taking extreme license with the "facts" (or what this guy says they are). The guy pulled his gun, hunkered down, and never confronted nor "stopped" anybody. He "thought" about shooting. There's no evidence that the shooter even saw him or his weapon. Are we to believe his thoughts were broadcast to the shooter through telepathy?

Also, there's no media blackout. At the very least NBC and a couple of other outlets covered it, but since there's no evidence this man did anything to affect the outcome of this shooting, it wasn't really news--so I would say, "Why give this guy any attention whatsoever?" The only reason it's a news story at all is the "illiterocracy" is attempting to make hay out of a single person's uncorroborated story.
