"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS" ? You pledged allegiance to the Flag , said the Morning Prayer from what ever "DENOMINATION YOU WERE" silently , then you started you normal School Day . The "RULES OF ENGAGEMENT WERE SIMPLE" , "If you don't have something nice to say about someone , then keep quiet (most never really followed that one) or do onto others as you would like them to do onto you (another one not followed too closely especially when either stepping on the person's heal in front of you so their shoe would come off or dumping their note book and books from their hands) ". If you had a disagreement with another Student , you waited till after School and took it off the School property and engaged in the art of fisticuffs usually to a cheering audience that had gathered for the show , then after all that you usually went to the local Malt Shop for a LIME RICKY together. "WE DIDN'T NEED NO STINKIN GOVERNMENT STICKING IT'S NOSE INTO OUR BUSINESS" , we were raised differently to respect and trust authority , it just ain't the same now , "IT'S CALLED PROGRESS" (to the rear) ? just my two cents worth from the soap box of ancient history and a better time to grow up as a kid.
A goose-stepper's idea of security would legislate microchips into every American's brain.
Birth 'em, slap 'em on the behind, stamp in the chip!!
Nah. Americans will NEVER legislate/regulate our right to freedom of movement into the commode. THAT'S why we won't tolerate seeing our high school students subjected to Talibanish governmental scrutiny instead of developing a mature sense of personal responsibility.
No way would I allow this. Bump snhadley!
Why don't they find out what the problem really is over there and address that!? Oh, that would be to darned easy.
Why don't we issue universal ID's with chips to everyone in the world and then put readers at various locations like state lines etc so that we can stop people from traveling and know exactly where everyone is at all times. I don't understand why some people want to give up their personal rights.

Another idea of those hard-bitten, finger-waggin' school principals to make EVERYONE hate school - "Just rearin' herds of kids all broke in for the factory line!"
Somebody should run the School Boards' pants up the flag-pole!
"SOMEHOW THE THINKING HAS CHANGED TO THE ENDS JUSTIFYING THE MEANS" , I would expect this in a SOCIALIST COUNTRY , Oh wait , Obamas already running a Socialist Style of CZARS for his hand maidens.
I strongly feel that this is a violation of the student's privacy. As the latter comment stated, parenting shouldn't be done by the school system. It should be done by the parents. This is taking government to a whole new level, and it makes me wonder, what's next?
When parents rely on the public school system to raise their children, this type of chaos ensues. A little discipline properly applied by an appropriate party will A) gain the attention of the child and B) make them respect those who have influence in their lives (parents, teachers, pastors, police, etc). Throwing money at a problem that cannot be solved by tracking devices is money not well spent. Make the parents be parents, it's simple really. I can assure you that as youngins, we didn't have to have an RFID attached to a card or anything else to ensure our attendance in class. All it took was a look, verbalized warning, or actual physical action. My how things have gone to he11 in the past 30 years.
While I don't see a big problem if it is only tracking their school ID's and only while on school grounds, I'm somewhat amazed that a school system can afford this type of technology in these economic times...
I don't see the problem, really. This is better than shackling them to their desks. I don't think there should be a reader in every room, but as a way for the school to account when and where they entered or left the building and as a way for teachers to take attendance it sounds like progress to me.

Texas school district to track kids through RFID tags
A San Antonio district is so concerned that it can't keep tabs of its kids that it has decided to insert RFID tags into their IDs. This will, apparently, save money, as well as help the counting process.
"We want to harness the power of (the) technology to make schools safer, know where our students are all the time in a school, and increase revenues," school district spokesman Pascual Gonzalez told the Express-News. "
So Northside Independent School District in San Antonio has decided to insert a little technology into the problem. For it intends to insert RFID chips into the kids' IDs, so that it will know precisely where little Chet is at all times.
