ajs, I think this is what you want to talk about--not the alleged and now debunked idea that the Marines in Egypt were not permitted live ammo:

There are 42 dead Americans. 1 being an ambassador and 2 being former Navy Seals. No dead bad guys. You can buy the dog and pony show this administration and the state department are handing out but I am not. You believe that if armed these Seals would go down like that without at least wounding one of those people? Conversely, if armed do you think the Marines would allow our embassy to be tossed like that? There is one heck of a lot of damage and one heck of a lot of damage control for no wounded or more effectively DEAD attackers to be on scene.

A perfect example how news organizations can publish rumors, un-verified information, or even verified lies as hard-core truth to satisfy their own agenda. This has become standard operating practice, but is more prevalent during elections by most. What happened to verifying and reporting facts w/o bias so the public can make their own conclusions? This is why I question everything I hear or see from the news media especially the big 3 in TV and all major newspapers, and automatically disregard 1/2 of what's reported and then question again the other 1/2 of what is reported...

From http://freebeacon.com/reports-marines-not-permitted-live-ammo/
Pentagon Lt. Col. Chris Hughes told the outlet: “The ambassador and RSO (Regional Security Officer) have been completely and appropriately engaged with the security situation. No restrictions on weapons or weapons status have been imposed. This information comes from the Det Commander at AMEMB (American Embassy) Cairo.”

Already discredited--you would lose that bet, Mikie--sorry. ajs, I honestly attempted to figure out how you managed to derive your conclusion. I also attempted to post additional links to the full text of the memo from the Marine Corps Legislative Liaison regarding this, but you folks are capable of Googling it yourselves. My links aren't working this morning.

i will lay three to one that in the end we will find out that this allegation is true, and bump what whalewatcher stated re: history repeating itself as in lebanon in 84. If you are going to have marines without ammo, on the line, you are doing them a disservice and putting their lives in unneccary risk. If you are not going to use them, send them home.

So.......the Marines allowed an American embassy to be taken with American lives lost because they had LIVE ammunition? Thanks for that clarification. Highly unlikely.

Bump cakdep1. Soinds like we didn't learn our lesson from the Marine barracks bombing in Lebannon back in 1984. If you don't learn from your history, you are doomed to repeat it.
