It takes strong people and communication skills, with some empathy mixed in, and also being accountable for your actions to be a detention officer/CO/jail deputy...constant professionalism! If you don't possess these skills, your in the wrong line of work.

Sometimes its very hard not to overreact....but you really need thick skin and a slow temper to do what we do and not end up in court.
