Must be more to the story, but appears 2 guards are taking the fall for a system and facility plagued with problems. Also, why would a 17 yoa juvenile facing those serious charges be treated the same as other delinquents? Looks like a complete review and overhaul of policies, procedures, and facilities is needed...

For some reason they are throwing this detention officer under the bus. Based on the article termination seems extreme. The lack of physical security would be the major concern here. The inmate was simply able to hop onto a roof and escape. That seems to be the larger problem.
