    OK , "HAVING TO PRODUCE AN I.D. TO SEE ERIC HOLDER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ERIC HOLDER FIGHTING WITH ALL THE STATES THAT ARE ATTEMPTING TO REQUIRE THE PRODUCTION OF AN I.D. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE MOST SACRED RIGHT OF ANY AMERICAN CITIZEN ( THE RIGHT TO VOTE ) ?????"

    That's true, Dave (and I agree). I was only challenging the BS idea that this article is trying to get across that this is some sort of irony. One doesn't have anything to do with the other, and that was my point. :)

    Well quite frankly I fully agree with my friend gradyg.I truely believe the N.A.A,C,P, has outlived its usefullness years ago.The Civil Rights Movement is quite different now than it was some thirty to fifty years ago and the N.A.A.C.P. has failed to keep pace.Because of this I believe they have lost some of their clout.I destinctly remember back in the day they fought tooth and nail for civil rights but now seem to be willing to sit back and watch the world go by.

    Looks like someones B.S. meter has run out of B.S. to twist into a "Lawyers Truth". I spent 15 years testifying against Defense Lawyers and enjoyed the "Cat and Mouse Game" they would play of taking one sentence from a paragraph and making a "NEW TRUTH" by including that one sentence into a contorted misleading Smoke and Mirrors Story. After all , Lawyers do not go to Law School to learn Law (BECAUSE THE LAW IN WRITTEN DOWN IN THE LAW BOOKS) , they learn how to "MISUSE THE QUEENS ENGLISH TO APPEAR TO HAVE SAID WHAT YOU THOUGHT THEY SAID BUT IN REALITY THEIR STATEMENT WAS JUST THE OPPOSITE". That's what separates the good Shyster from the bad (or the richer of the two). "THEN THEY GO INTO POLITICS AND EXPOUND UPON THEIR STORY TELLING THAT IS ACTUALLY LEGAL IN A COURT ROOM BUT (ILLEGAL OR A LIE IN THE REAL WORLD OUTSIDE THE COURT ROOM) in accordance with their Cannons. Journalists basically have the same ideology and it's called "JOURNALISTIC LIBERTY OR CREATIVE WRITING , HOWEVER YOU WISH TO PUT IT". :=)~ C-H-I-C-A-G-O JOURNALISTS , POLITICIANS , AND OTHER LEFT WING EXTREMISTS ARE A CLASSIC EXAMPLE !

    I show my ID when I vote I do not have a problem with it, you have to show ID to buy alcohol, to get into clubs and to cash your checks. mz66 a lot of things our government does is unconstitutional but that haven't stop them from passing those idiotic laws. The NAACP has lost their usefulness, what they should be doing is addressing blacks on blacks killing one another. If they are not going to fight for what's right crime in the black communities then the government needs to withdraw fundings from the NAACP. They haven't done anything to help blacks lately since the what 70's.

    Ileg I agree. Also when that particular document was written people either worked or starved. We didn't have a class of people wholly dependant on the government to provide them food and sheltef who were willing to sell their vote to the highest bidder (liar) in order to keep their "benefits". The idea that a $5 or $10 identification card issued by a governmental agency could be considered a tax is nonsensical. So if it is considered a tax to vote would it not also be considered a tax to drive? Would that not also infringe on a person's rights? The rule of law? I am certain, on any given day, I apply it more than some folks on this site. I am pretty sure I know what I speak of. "Poll tax" is a misnomer dug up by someone who wishes to twist this particular subject into a given agenda (go figure). Identifying oneself as oneself is not an undue burden upon anyone. It is called common sense. Perhaps if one was to read that particular piece of literature by Thomas Payne one would be more apt to act as an American and do what is right for America, as opposed to an agenda or an ideology. It's pretty basic really, in order to form a more perfect union a country must have a citizenry who are willing to be honest in their dealings. Dishonesty, especially when it comes to something as central to our freedoms as voting should not be tolerated. This is not a third world nation nor are we a group of corrupt commies used to rigging elections........yet. Show the ID, what is the problem?

    Requesting ID is fine, except when it comes to polls because it violates court opinion that IDs are essentially a proxy for a receipt for a poll tax and that violates the equal protection clause (Section 1) of the 14th amendment:

    All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    It's really that simple. A law that impinges upon the rights of many in order to seek justice against a very tiny minority is still unconstitutional, ilegworldchamp.

    I still don't get it. It's OK for the NAACP to demand people show up with identification to see Holder but it is NOT OK for poll workers to demand people show up with identification to elect a person to the most powerful position in the free world. Only in the liberal upside-down parallel does this make any sense whatsoever. Those that think this is OK must swear in by raising their LEFT hand. How mind numbingly stupid.
