I'm not aware that the ACA gives us only government healthcare plans. Health care has always been regulated. The major change some people are objecting to is the requirement that you have a plan at all.
As far as other countries that do have "flat out Government Healthcare"--I have no experience with that, but I have spoken personally with several who do (and not just folks who appear on Faux News). It seems in the UK, for example, even dental is considered part of it. You do not have to carry separate dental insurance and the costs are extremely reasonable. Here in the US, I'll be lucky if my dental insurance covers a third of the charges.
Michelle, I get it. All I have to run with is my expierences. Yeap, the unknown is scary. However, there will not be a whole lot of change for me and mine. What is good for America is if we don't like it. We can vote it and those who support it away!
Steven, you are a charm! :) Tricare is government run, yes, but key word there here is "choice" that you opted out of your employer healthcare plan. With the entire Country being Government run, no choice... has terrible consequences, based on other Countries who have a flat out Government Healthcare plan. :)

AJS, why because it is a right. I seriously doubt you make over 200,000 a year alone. Combined my wife and I do. There are taxpaying hard working Americans that can barely pay the light bill and you are supporting the job creators that are not creating jobs because they have to pay their fair share of what you and many are obliged to pay. I liken that mentality to a pimp and his whore!. Now go clean yourself up for the next trick! You better have their money or get ready for another smack down! Don't get mad, just think about that!

Michelle, my bell when have I lied to you! I would rather commit suicide! As I stated earlier, one year as a juvenile and all my adult life not one friggin problem from the government or Tricare. I actually opted out of my employer paid health plan and they pay me to stay with Tricare! No worries, no cares. When they bump their head on an issue there are remedies and I have always prevailed. There have been very few of those events less than two and the problem was to clarify if some one else should pay instead of them . They paid and went after the other guy (Job related). I am so happy with them!
Why in the world should health care be considered a "right"? Those that can, do. Those that can't depend on others generosity......or the federal government mandate. Wow.
By the way, the ACA isn't about taking away the choices of those who already have access to affordable health care. It is about trying to make sure everyone has access to affordable health care--which should be considered a right, not a privilege.
Wait, I don't understand. You're picking the dead guy?
By the way--as bizarre as it sounds, I think Rupert Murdoch got it right yesterday, except even if Romney took the advice immediately it would be too little, too late:
I hope you are right snhadley... And I understand what you mean about some of the Republicans in office, but I am picking the lesser of two evils. That's just my opinion. :)

Wow, Michelle! I am so sorry to hear that! I love Reagan and all he stood for but these new Republican's leave alot to be desired. I have been under goverment healthcare all my adult life and have not had a problem. Hopefully, that will not change!
I am not happy about this healthcare plan at all.. Right now I have great healthcare. Government control, I fear, just as in Canada, will cause people to have to wait 6 months to see a good healthcare specialist. I hope I never get ill as I have been in the past.. And I fear many of the really good Doctors out there now, will cease to practice medicine, due to all the political guidelines.
If you have never been ill or have never known anyone that has been ill, maybe this plan is good for you. Talk to people in Canada as I have. See how they like their Government run healthcare plan!
Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives - Reagan This is exactly what this healthcare plan is doing.. running the people's lives. Is this what we want for this Country? For our lives to be run by our Government? For those of you that think healthcare is bad now... Wait until it is Government run! Talk about misery and more stress for the people who are ill (I won't even go into how much this is going to cost)

Rating this up for being a prime example of why I don't generally watch television news.
