"A gender bias that my gender has often been accused of having". "Often accused"?? That's as carefully couched as I've heard it. And yes, I will take that in context of your defense, mz66.

And, yes absolutely, mz66. I am accusing you of the same sniggering so deeply rooted in the gender bias that your gender has SPECIFICALLY EXERCISED in the workplace and in ALL MANNER of other places, events and institutions until RELATIVELY RECENTLY COMPELLED LEGALLY to cease and desist.

And sorry. Despite your claim to love irony, you can't ennoble your sniggering by calling it "irony" rather than what it is. A predictable schoolboy response to the idea of a cheaply made-up woman hiring a high-profile, unlikeable female lawyer to represent her in a humiliating sexual harassment case.

Such sniggering hearkens back to the victimization of victims "If you didn't want to get raped, why did you wear that miniskirt?"

THAT dark period in American jurisprudence is behind us. Albeit, quite more closely than I prefer, judging by comments here - yours in particular.

Well, I don't suppose you'd believe me if I said my sniggering wasn't rooted in the gender bias that my gender has been often accused of having. From my perspective this more has to do with my love of irony--like when I correct the spelling of people who can't spell themselves.

Well...then mz66 you can join the legions of sniggerers. I thumb my nose to you all!

If what Oden says is true - this is no 'ordinary sexual harassment case' - whatever THAT is - and you know it, mz66. So KUDOS to Oden for dragging the wretched company shamerobe into the legal arena AND the media. And KUDOS for choosing a high-profile, thoroughly annoying lawyer who will launch whatever Oden chooses to launch off the incident(s).

Fie on men who race to criticize women for acting in an 'unseemly manner' because women take a legitimate beef public! Fie on men who twist a harassment case into a Hotness Rating marketing ploy to garner internet traffic!

    Yawn?? Snigger?? BLECCH!!

I don't normally "snigger" so, but since this woman saw fit to drag the point into the legal arena (and then the media) I felt it deserved a snigger or two. Had she simply brought a regular sexual harassment suit without the "GLORIA-US" accoutrements I would've yawned and not even posted it.

Friend mz66, once again you are hair-splitting to serve cheap argument. Many stories question lawyers' motives. Do we have to indulge the non-point? Frankly, whenever a clear case for abuse of women in the workplace presents itself and is quickly wrested into convenient flatulence about 'publicity seeking lawyers', my hackles go up. It's a transparent way of squelching rights-related dialogue.

But that's what makes horse races, I guess. So you go ahead and employ precise references in order to lead away from the true issue at hand. Annd...I will continue to challenge where you lead it and why. A certain type of journalism AND readership always strains to put the blame on the female victim. I'm tired of press that panders to witch-burner mentality.

All the cheap sniggers about this simple woman's idea of how to look attractive to men nauseate me. Annnd...I think most women of all ages can do without make-up tips from guys. Just tend to your nose-hair clipping and leave us to our lipstick!

I am not a soothsayer but. I am looking at the good possibility that she turned away the sexual advances of the employer and was rewarded with a pink slip.Surely would not be the first time this has occured. If so,he had better bring his checkbook.

Oh, and I forgot to add--yes, I agree, it is about the mistreatment, but the story is also necessarily about her lawyer's motives--that just goes with hiring Allred.

I did not intend to comment on her sex appeal, only that her efforts to accentuate it backfires--in my opinion. It is not simply a "natural" preference, but also since I became aware that makeup on women tends to accentuate the lines and wrinkles rather than mask them as is intended it is impossible for me not to notice this.

Neither Oden's sexometer rating nor her lawyer's motive is the issue at hand.

The mistreatment of Oden by her employer IS the matter at hand. If she can show proof - quite a tort.

    That's TORT. Not TART.

As far as Oden's sex appeal goes - Oden is of a type that appeals to a certain type of man. Not all men prefer natural types. Some prefer a brazen blonde who looks readily accessible. I think we can agree on that, can't we?

Give me a break. This female is not hot or too sexy. She has had a bunch of plastic surgery like her lips, cheeks, and forehead done and looks like a face-lift as ell already, and she has some very large implants in her chest. This does not make her hot except in her own mind. Allred is a media and judicial hore, (with a W in front) in that she wants civil cases that will bring her fame before the cameras,

I am not surprised that G-L-O-R-I-A is her mouth piece. I would think tapeing her breast down would ouch when the tape is removed. Did she have the breasts when hired. I hope she kicks A$$,

Right on, ssu459. Oden has got quite a case.

Meanwhile, let's hope Oden's former supervisors don't get the idea to threaten to tape down 'distracting' bulges' of male employees whose trousers they decide are cut too tight.

Agree with mz66 en re to her not looking anything exceptional to me.I believe this taping down the breast thing would NOT have been acceptable to any female.Would one expect a female supervisor to tell a male employee to tape down his goodies. Not easy for a female in the work place. She's frequently pictured by the management to be too sexy or too dowdy.
