Abandoned and detained in a cell w/o facilities, food, or water for 5 days with no charges! Heads should roll, money be paid out, and policies/procedures reviewed and rewritten. Unbelieveable...
Wonder more about the meth in the cell, clearly a poor search at some point, whether it was this individuals or left by a previous tenant, another big problem that needs to be addressed.
Now I can understand that his charges may have gotten screwed up and he sit there without specific charges or bond but I cannot figure out how he could have gone without food or a bathroom! Wasn't there any guards there?
Some would say this is where partying leads. And yes they would be right. He shouldn't have been there in the first place. But he was there. He was arrested and jailed. Then he was neglected by a government agency. No he shouldn't have been there to get himself arrested. But neither should the DEA have just left him in his cell. It sounds like fuel for a lawsuit. I don't usually sympathize with drug users. And he should answer for the charges that apply to him. So should the DEA! But they don't usually end up in ICU due to the negligence of the DEA. At least not that we hear, that is. And who else but Boxer and Holder would I want as advocates?

No problem, Jim. Here's a reprint of the exact same LA Times piece at another outlet:
