As an auxiliary I worked closely with the D.A.R.E. program officer, with me using the whole McGruff program with kids K-8. What a shame to have this cut back. My daughter received a D.A.R.E. award in 6th. grade for not caving in to peer pressure and skipping school with the other kids. She was presented an award at a school function by the D.A.R.E. officer I worked with in my department.
This has been a trend for the last few years. More and more agencies cutting the DARE programs as well as the G.R.E.A.T. Program as well.
First McGruff and now D.A.R.E.?
How many more programs are going to disappear ?
