Marshal Law is something that no Governor really wants to declare but I do agree that Gov. Perry should consider it. The Federal Government 's MAIN PURPOSE is a very simple one. "Protect this Nation for ALL enemies, foriegn and domestic". That's it! There are no provision for dictating birth control, supplying health care, or even sticking our nose in other nations business unless it is going to affect the USA.
Now the Government is great at protecting us from certain Domestic groups like the KKK and these extreme right-wing groups and even the survivalists groups. They do not go after other groups like the New Black Panthers, or extreme Left-wing groups and certainly n0ot against those that they think they may be able to become future voters like the Illegals who enter out country from out Southern Border! This IS a FEDERAL Government concern and they should be ordering US Troops to the Southern Border to stop this invasion, period.
Well--although not entirely related, I'll bite:
Nope--I won't try to justify Operation Fast & Furious, nor will I try to justify that ATF office's previous GWB-era operation, Operation Wide Receiver. I wont blame GWB either--although a case could be made that someone should've reigned in Phoenix ATF SAC William Newell BACK THEN...before he would go on to implement Operation Fast & Furious later.
Regarding AZ's unconstitutional forays:
ARIZONA: "We have legal options, but screw that--let's pass an obviously unconstitutional law that the US Justice Department will have no choice but to challenge...and then when that happens we'll whine that we're hamstrung by the executive branch! It's perfect! MWAHAHAHA!"
Interesting that politics has reared its head in this discussion. Seeing as how this is a national security issue why not leave it up to the president to man up in this election year? Oh yeah thats right, he needs this particular voting block. Make no mistake about it this IS a national security issue especially as it pertains to the illegal immigration of not only Mexican nationals but terrorists as well. Oh and while we are at it perhaps someone either in charge (or their supporters on here) can justify operation fast and furious which has already claimed the life of a LEO? How some conveniently forget. Seal the border for it is all of our problem once the infiltration is made. Leaving it up to individual states is like plugging a sieve, doesn't work. As has already been remarked, it is amazing we can guard other borders but not our own. Oh and by the way individual states have tried to act (see Arizona) however the current administration and its cronies have decided Gov. J Brewer's (R-Arizona) actions to be "unconstitutional". Looks like SOMEONE grew a pair but the feds were waiting with a pair of scissors to lop them off. You sure can tell it's an election year in here can't you?
Good point, gradyg. Gov. Rick Perry (R) should get on the ball...or the GOP in Texas should get on the ball to find a replacement before the Dems do it for them.
Texas has national guard units and the Governor of Texas is in charge of them so why haven't they been using some of the guard units to secured the borders if it's that bad and with the stroke of a pen the Governor of Texas can declare a state of emergency and activate the Texas national guards. There is no reason for them to ask the President for anything, that is why every state has national guard units to use in cast of an emergency. The Governor of Texas can declare a state of emergency and the federal government will have to act on it, unless the Governor of Texas do not think it's a big enough deal to call up the national guards and declare a state of emergency and that's his or her call. We are in an election year and the republicans is going to do what ever they can to discredit President Obama and for those who do not no the workings of our government they are going to fall right into the republicans trap.
Rgr that rafael!
We send our men and women too other countries and fight thier Wars but we do nothing in our own Back Yard!!
Bump ROBO! I will put down half on this venture! This cr@p has gone on long enough!
Hey Steve, Shetland, Dave, Ya'll wanna go in 1/4ths and buy a nice ranch cheap? I am sure that 'WE' won't have any problems with illegals or trespassers.
No surprise here except that it is taking so long. They are VERY dangerous and we need to back our LEOs there 110% and also give them Military back-up to these vicious invaders to our country. They have what literally amounts to an Army armed with military type weapons. They are invading our nation and the ONLY response to that should be armed reaction and to wipe them out. Yes we must let the Mexican Govt. know that we are not interested in any land or acquisition of land or property but we will be placing our US Military forces on their soil up to say 50miles beyond the border before we call our troops back and we would like it if they would assist us by placing a military line approx 50Miles inland from the border and any cartel that comes through they are welcome to and we demand that they are captured or killed as they flee our forces. No other bargain is to be made or apology, that is it and if they resist that 50mil safe zone from the Cartels then we will deal with anyone that doesn't like it in a quick and efficient manner.
I concur with Robocop33.
Bump Dave! This makes me want to take a road trip!
Noit one iota surprised what occurs anywhere along our Southern border.I have read countless reports over the past ten years of Mexican Police and Mexican Army units crossing our borders and slaying American citizens. It is WAY past time for somebody in Washington to "Grow a Pair" and do something about this.
