I think we should have taken Khamenei back then as soon as the hostages were set free. How worse can it get? As we speak, there is an Iranian CHRISTIAN Pastor awaiting execution. He's charged with ...well.....not recanting his faith in Christ.

Yes, Cedardale. I remember ("Shah", btw). Also--after deposing him, they demanded him back for trial and execution...the initial motivation for the 444 day hostage crisis.

For those who remember back to about 1978, Iran was an ally of the US and run by a Shaw ? sp. The Iranian people want the Shaw out and put in a fundamentalist Islam government instead, and all the Iranians in the US who wanted the Shaw out were then seeking asylum in the US, proof positive of the old adage, be careful what you wish for, you might giet it. The first ones who returned to Iran were executed for being 'too westernized', many of them were students at the University of Oklahoma studying petroleum geology.

There has been a general insurrection in many of the middle Eastern countries for the past couple of years.I am not fond of making positive statements about Obama ,but I believe he has been doing the correct thing by staying clear of the fray.It is exactly as mz66 states,another dictator will just fill the void.That is what is going on all over the regioin.Rest assured that whomever takes over any of these states will still be dedicated to the destruction of not only Israel but all the democracies of the Western world.Not only this ,but if one follows the news over the past decade,Islam has murdered Chinese as well as Russian diplomats. In summation they pretty much despise everybody who doesn't break out their prayer rugs and bow down to Mecca.

The Iranian people are not to blame. They have been under this regime where every aspect of their lives, including the information they receive from media, is tightly controlled by the state. Targeted assassination is not something the US engages in (*cough* BS), but even if it did, some other tyrant will fill the void. Sadly, this is a problem that doesn't have a solution yet. If you turned Iran into a glass factory, you'd be martyring an entire people...with predictable (and entirely avoidable) results.

He said Israel is a "cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut."
