So,let's see if I understand this correctly. You have a one gas pump city ,possibly one bar and one church ,as well. You have 5 members on the city board plus three other city officials.Ergo you have eight bosses and five police officers.NOW we have eight leaders and one Police Officer. One need not be a rocket scientist to see that we are a tad top heavy. Why don't these utter morons in this town grow some guts ,fire seven of the eight city officials in this city and swear in eight Police Officers. This would be a nationwide test case.I would imagine lots of news coverage would bring in a top notch attorney "Pro Bono".If I were the officers involved I would do exactly that post haste..

uncledennis1, North Carolina is a right to work state. They can be terminated at will with no reason given. In union shops, it is optional to join the union and you pay dues for nothing. The union cannot and will not fight for what little rights you have.

You don't have to tell them why they were fired? Are you kidding me? They damn well DO have to tell them or be prepared to fork over some serious money! These two spoiled jerks who lost it when a LEO gives them a 'warning'? God help them if they had actually written them a ticket! Then to attack the officers because they did not agree with them or did not act in the manner that they thought they should? Apparently these two idiots were convicted as they are appealing? Can't very well do that unless they were found guilty can they? How can the Mayor every break a tie when they have five members voting? They need to have a recall election. Can the Mayor do that? I would also think that in any pending compensation for the lawsuit that these two commissioners would have to recluse themselves because of campaign contribution issues. $6000 in contributions is a pretty cheap payout when they stand to make hundreds of thousands in lawsuit money. Someone needs to drop a dime to the State Attorney's Office and have this investigated. Good luck to the town and especially to the Officers who had Santa blow out of the sky on them!

Okay, so an officer warned the couple about something during a traffic stop (article does not say what). The woman was unhappy, goes to the police station, becomes combative and assaults an officer. She is convicted of charges relating to that incident. The couple uses their money to elect a new mayor and two new comissioners, who immediately fire four officers. Qutie a load of crap. Enjoy your new town administration, Candor, NC.

WOW........ Sounds like the real life version of BOSS HOGG in Hazzard County. I will be waiting to see how this turns out in the pending wrongful termination lawsuit that is sure to come out of this. Here's hoping the commission and the complaining parties involved get thier fleshy hindquarters handed to them. Seriously....... A "bought and paid for services" commision..............

I sure hope the Chief and the other Officers fired have some way of fighting this. It would be nice if they can get the eveidence together to sue who ever is responsible

No common sense anywhere near here. Is this their way of saying "Merry Christmas" to the four Officers and their families! What's gonna happen when the only Officer in town responds to a violent call. Hope his backup is REAL close.

I had to laugh when the commissioner did not have the nads for an interview and left out the back door. I would be curious if this state has a right to work law. I sincerely wish the officers well. Poliitics at its worst.

Politics have reared its ugly head there. I see a wrongfull termination suit in the future that the town will lose in.

apparently, "candor" is only the name of the town, it is certainly not how that act! Not telling someone why they were fired, and the new mayor slips out the back door? wow! Glad that I don't live anywhere near there!
