oopsies, I meant 2011
In 2012 throughout NJ hundreds of LEO's have been laid off, K9 Units done away with along with other massive budget cuts to Public Safety. Sometimes I wonder who's really on drugs. We have the toughest Gun laws making it almost impossible for Law Abiding cits to get a CW, but in Camden, Newark, Irvington and paterson thugs are brandishing, AK's, & M9's and sawed offs. Foot patrol not only tends to keep things civil, but in my teenage years they were respected by both the Law abiding and the non law abiding. Foot Patrol is an important asset in any community, as they tend to bridge the gap, hence some have gone as far as preach to youth without dads how to make better decisions in life. This is a bad message were sending to the Public, absolutly bad bad PR. We want Cits to cooperate in investigations, If the Cops aint walking, I betcha the cits aint talking. This is taking two steps backwards, Man up and Take back our streets.
BUMP 2frankcanine !!!!! I'm rollin laughing at that scenario !!!! As a sworn P & P officer who worked some of the rougher parts of my city, I can just envision some of my old offenders falling all over themselves to get us what information we wanted!!!! I do believe that would work !!!!

Bump copper380, Get Er Done!
Clearly any peace officer worth his/her salt who reads about this situation wants to pour gasoline on the fire. The Police Chief in this are should coordinate with the County Sheriff and Govenor to bring officers from all surrounding areas on OT and work beside the jurisdiction organization to saturate the area with a Strong Law Enforcement presence including zero tollerance traffic enforcement, gang details, start each day with no less than five simultaneous search warrants, sex offender and felony warrant execution within the geographical area, multiple vehicles of secondary roving swat teams whose responsibility is to aid the primary swat officers, and then back up patrol / traffic officers on vehicle stops, citizen contacts, and calls for service. Officer stops car, - behind him an unmarked with blacked out windows pulls up and no less than 4 SWAT officers with face covers carrying FULL-AUTO weapons exit thier vehicle while three surround the suspect vehicle and one monitors the surrounding area and eye balls each car that drives by. Incident command centers and mobile booking stations posted at locations at the perimeter of problem areas. Sworn Probation and Parole agents working hand in hand assigned to each large team to aid officers with habitual offenders and authorizing warrantless searches of person and property associated with active offenders. Eight person teams of Officers conducting bar and public party area walk-thru's each hour targetting wanted offenders, liquor violations, and narcotics violations. Night time enforcement with tag train teams (12-15 patrol cars) following the lead vehicle all over the problem area catching the attention of anyone and everyone looking up to see 15 cop cars creeping through the area while at various other locations assisting the State Patrol with enforcement / DUI checkpoints....Would be a nice way to begin while formulating a more detailed, and higher man-power geared plan. In a ten block problem area make it so No person within the area, - no matter where they are, could step outside, take a walk, leave in a car and not go more than half a minute without seeing the Police.
We receive threats nearly every other day. If it something serious, they just double/triple us up.
Bump Copper380! Damn straight, take these streets back! I don't think anything on PL has stirred me up so much in a very long time. How dare they order me to leave or else!
PS. The officers and union should be outraged that these turds have the nerve to threaten the police and should be chomping at the bit to get in there and handle the situation. I know I am and I do not even live there!!
You might as well just turn your badge over to the thugs, because they just won.You don't give in to the enemy no matter how bad it gets or can get.Thats what theses pieces of low life scum thrive on is threats and intimidation and you just gave into them. BAD CHOICE!!!!!!
I am a FIRM believer in foot patrol. We are not required to do foot patrols where I am but I will park my vehicle and walk. I have walked up on so many drug deals/use, suspicious activities, thefts in progress....etc... The hardest part is finding another officer willing to unass their car and walk. In problem areas I believe there is no substitute for foot patrol because the bad guys never know where you are. I am not one to walk the streets, I like to walk the tree lines, trails amd paths between buildings and neighborhoods. That being said, notice after the foot patrols were started the gangs made the threat....that is because the officers on foot could not be ignored like a patrol car can. The foot patrols WORK. Me personally, I agree with Robocop33 and alexy, Threaten the police? who the ---- do you think you are? double foot patrols and flood the area with specialized units, take the streets that are ours and let the turds know they do not own the streets.....WE DO.....PERIOD!! Like Robocop33 also said, make contact with the citizens and shop owners, let them know you are there for them and you will not be intimidated. How are they supposed to feel if the police back down? They call us for help and if the perception is we ran scared then what the hell are they supposed to feel, about their situation and their faith in the police? FLOOD THE AREA AND CHARGE EVERY LITTLE CRIME YOU SEE, from j walking, loitering, open container, disorderly, and my favorite...obstruction!! then the "players" will turn on the threat maker because the threat really put the police where they did not want us!!!
This is not what American law enforcement does. We step up our game to a challenge, not shy away! Bad message.....sounds a bit like Mexico to me, not America....
Alexy, those were my exact words when I saw this article, even before clicking on it to go to this part!
Oh Hell no is right! Nobody is going to make me stop patrolling or doing my job because they 'threatened me'. Uh-Uh, not gonna happen. We had a group of Bad-Asses that sent the word do that they were going to kill a Police Officer in a certain area of our town. That just so happened to be MY area so the first thing I did was go to work, get out of my vehicle and walk all over the area greeting the merchants and the good people I knew that lived in that area. Some of these people thought I was nuts as they knew of the threats. I told them that we are the POLICE and WE are there to protect them from the scum and we will not ever back down from them or abandon the good people of ******** area! ANYTIME any of us were eve threatened we took action by being right in their face to prove to them that WE are in charge, not them. Being a cop is not for the faint of heart or those who don't have the courage of their convictions and we will stand up to the criminals, ALWAYS. If they are threatening the police they must be doing something right for the badguys to want them gone.
Stay at it guys and get in their face! How dare they think we will run and hide from them?
Oh yeah, I am fired up right now!
Oh hell no............... the police owns those streets NOT the other way around,
This makes no freaking sense whatsoever. you go after those POS gangmembers and bring them to justice.
