Wife Cuts Off Husband's Penis, Grinds It In Garbage Disposal

Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, of Garden Grove, Calif., is accused of drugging her 51-year-old estranged husband, tying him to bed, cutting off his penis and throwing it down the garbage disposal. She is due in court Wednesday. (Garden Grove Police Dept.)

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – A woman was in custody Tuesday for allegedly poisoning her estranged husband, cutting off his penis with a 10-inch kitchen knife and throwing it in the garbage disposal.

Lt. Jeff Nightengale said the crime occurred Monday night at the man’s Garden Grove home. According to authorities, this was the first time police have ever been called to the home. No neighbors reported any signs of fighting or screaming.

Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, was booked for aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning, and spousal abuse. She was being held at the Orange County Jail.

The woman, who was later identified as the suspect, called 911 to report a medical emergency at about 10 p.m.

“The suspect called 911 and told responding officers that he ‘deserved it,’” Nightengale said.

When officers arrived, they found the man tied to a bed and bleeding from the groin area. He told officers the woman had given him a drug in the dinner she had made for him.

Investigators said she tied him to the bed after he fell asleep. When he awoke, the woman grabbed his penis and cut it off with a 10-inch kitchen knife, according to police. She then threw it in the garbage disposal and turned on the disposal, police said.

The 51-year-old man was hospitalized at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. He was listed in serious condition. Pieces of the penis were taken to the hospital, but it remained unclear whether surgeons were able to reattach it.

The rope used to tie the man to the bed and a knife were seized as evidence.

Nightengale said an initial investigation indicated the two are married and going through a divorce. According to courts records, the victim filed for divorce on May 16, and is representing himself.

@XHOMILT: I can truly understand your response to one of the previous commenters. However, I just want to let you know that commenter and I are on opposite sides of the issue---what the woman who cut off her husband's penis did was morally wrong, criminal and vicious. I just want you to know that because you indicated that her comment was a "typical female response". I don't believe, I won't believe that her response was "typical". It was certainly not mine, nor have I knowledge of anyone who shares that commenter's stance. After all, as You pointed out, the husband was divorcing the wife, not the other way around. There must have been a reason for THAT!

@Summar: "at least she did what we have ALL thought about." Where did you get that from? I don't know how you could speak for ME--I have never thought of mutilating anyone! If you have an opinion, it might be best if you take ownership of it, rather than throwing the rest of the female gender in the pot with you.

I agree that he didn't do enough to derserve this. A local AM talk show did a couple of hours on their contention that NO crime desrves the punsihment he received.

First thing that popped into my mind was Jaycee Dugard. Over a decade and a hallf of daily, drug-fueled, hours-long rape? I don't think a jury would convict her. And Gloria Steinem would be right there if needed for an appeal.

@Alex11991: Thank you for the explanation on how each of the States interprets certain assaults differently. While I'm sure that the State of California couldn't give a hill of beans about my opinion since I live in NY, I think that the charge of Attempted Murder should be added. Thanks again for helping me to understand.

At least she did what we have all thought about. I think it was the other way around than most of you guys. By the look on her face she was the real victim. Everyone is so fast to judge her. Wait, take a breath, now think about it like this. What if he was beating her and mentally abusing her? Of course we all have a breaking point. So she was fed up with his lying, cheating, abusive ways and what does a man treasure the most? Exactly! He took her self esteem. self confidence, and well being away. She snapped and said to herself I am over this crap and he will not hit me or yell at me again. AND HE DEFINITELY WON'T CHEAT!
I was trained a long time ago to read people at first glance and this poor woman had enough crap. I agree it was extreme. She should have duct taped (wear gloves so no dna is passed) his butt to the bed and got a leather belt and beat his ass litterally.
