I was thinking about what robo said, while it wouldnt be practicial to pay for her dinner maybe we could all get together and send her some t-shirts from our depts or something similiar to let her know she is still part of the LE family. I'd be willing to send one, any Ft Worth LEOs on this site that could maybe help us out wit the logistics?

You don't have to know this officer to know he was a good man....you can tell he was by the way he raised his daughter. Kudos to her...(sniffle).

Bump ESU, As far as your story what's the chance of that happening in Manhattan? *Karma. Glad you got the opportunity to meet the deceased's family, and they had a chance to get a little more needed closure from you. Post 911, Upon leaving Manhattan and heading back to Jersey, My daughters and I saw a lone officer in the Mcdonalds (possibly the one on broadway)sipping on a coffee. He looked depressed as well as fatigued and was constantly looking down at his cup. I just had the feeling that we could do something a little bit more before we left Manhattan. I offered him a few dollars to pay for his meal, and what he said to me was "Thank you. I can't really take this, but You know what, give it to the FD, they could use it." I'll never forget the selflessness of this officer, and As for this little girl, the apple doesn't fall far from the Tree*

Brings tears to my eyes. I think that this young lady should be able to have all of her checks for eating out picked up by her 'Uncles' who still serve. I know I would be proud to buy her breakfast, lunch, or dinner any time. God Bless you Kay, we love you as we loved your Dad.
