Daughter of slain Fort Worth officer picks up the check for officers' dinner

Post 911, Upon leaving Manhattan and heading back to Jersey, My daughters and I saw a lone officer in the Mcdonalds (possibly the one on broadway)sipping on a coffee. He looked depressed as well as fatigued and was constantly looking down at his cup. I just had the feeling that we could do something a little bit more before we left Manhattan. I offered him a few dollars to pay for his meal, and what he said to me was "Thank you. I can't really take this, but You know what, give it to the FD, they could use it." I'll never forget the selflessness of this officer, and As for this little girl, the apple doesn't fall far from the Tree*

Great story and wonderful gesture by the young lady. Her Dad must be smiling down on her right about now.

What an amazing person. People like her make this job worth doing everyday.
