Its amazing the devastation wreaked in just hours.. Our mother earth continues to awe us with her power.. yet weeps for those lost along the way. Sad that it takes horrible situations such as this for the public to drop their petty squabbles and embrace one another..
Sad... yet uplifting.. To those who got lost along the way.. One-love for all.

I have seen damage from a tornado but nothing like this amount. My thoughts and prays are with the citizens of Joplin, Missouri. To the family and friends that have lost someone during this storm. May the Fire Dept,Police Dept, First Responders and others have the courage to carry on, because this is something you can't plan for either. After it is over if they have PTS from this may the help they need be there for them. May God bless each and everyone of you for the jod you are proforming.

There are multiple agencies assisting from all over the state as well as from out-of-state. As of now, the death toll is 117, the worst in the nation in over six decades, with many more expected. If you're a retired LEO, I'm not sure who to contact to help other than Joplin PD (417-623-3131) or Jasper County SD (417-358-8177). Otherwise, the Red Cross. On behalf of the Ozarks communities affected, we greatly appreciate your prayers and willingness to assist in this devestating time!

HydeParkSarge (and all): Yes, there is an effort underway. Here is what I received from Clark Cayton with Rsponder Life (www.responderlife.com) who writes, "We have already identified at least 12 First Responder Families in Joplin, MO who have lost everything they own. Please contact me at clarke.cayton@responderlife.com if you know of a family that is in need."
I also have a prayer request posted on my website: www.TheCenturionLawEnforcementMinistry.org

Myself and other deputies arrived on scene about 3 hours after the storm came thru to provide any help we could. The damage was on a scale I have not seen since the tornado that hit Oklahoma City in 1999. Keep these people in your thoughts and prayers.

Is there anything in place to assist Police Officers and Firefighters affected by this tornado? Just assistance to them or their families as they continue to do their jobs. Not that they are anymore important than anyone else, just that they are 1st responders as many us are or have been. I have donated money through Salvation Army by texting JOPLIN 80888 and $10.00 at a time can be given. I live out of state and am retired and willing to help in anyway.
