One Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police say a man who was shot by officers as he fired into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend has died.

Police Chief Art Acevedo says the man shot early Monday later died at University Medical Center Brackenridge.

Acevedo says the man began firing into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend just after 1 a.m. She was not home at the time, but her daughter, her daughter’s husband and a 2-year-old boy were in the apartment.

Police say they received several 911 calls about shots being fired. When two officers arrived about three minutes later, the suspect was still shooting. Police say one of the officers then fired.

No one else was injured.
