WASHINGTON, DC – Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr., more commonly known as the rapper “Common”, was invited by First Lady Michelle Obama among other poets to celebrate American poetry and prose on Wednesday, May 11, thedailycaller.com reports.
Lynn’s divisive lyrics about gun violence, shooting police, and even for burning the president (who at the time was George W. Bush), make him a controversial choice for the White House. “Burn a Bush cos for peace he no push no button,” he raps on a YouTube video with more than 800,000 views.
He is also a known supporter of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, according to the examiner.com. Abu-Jamal was a member of the Black Panther Party, and was sentenced in 1981 for killing a Philadelphia police officer.
Coincidentally, President Obama and the rapper/poet Lynn are members of Trinity United Church of Christ, reports the New Hampshire Journal. Additionally, Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008 came under fire when the church’s Reverend Jeremiah Wright made several charged sermons in support of Obama.
“Several of Wright’s sermons caused a firestorm of controversy during the 2008 presidential campaign due to their caustic, racially charged, anti-American tones. One sermon in particular caused Obama a severe headache – the one in which he blamed America for Osama bin Laden’s terrorist attacks. ‘America’s chickens are coming home to roost,’ he said.” – New Hampshire Journal
At the time, Obama defended and then rejected Wright, whereas Lynn came to the reverend’s defense.
Lynn also named his daughter after Assata Shakur, another Black Panther party member. In 1977, Shakur was found guilty of first-degree murder and fled to Cuba after escaping prison, reports the New Hampshire Journal.
At the White House event, Lynn and other artists will participate in an afternoon workshop educating children.
The AP reports that other artists invited to attend are Elizabeth Alexander, Billy Collins, Rita Dove, Kenneth Goldsmith, Alison Knowles, Aimee Mann, and Jill Scott.

LonnaNJ, from Wikipedia: "The prosecution did not need to prove that Shakur fired the shots that killed either Trooper Foerster or Zayd Shakur: being an accomplice to murder carries an equivalent life sentence under New Jersey law."

My personal belief is ashata aka Joane Chesimard is nothing but a gun toting criminal, not any black liberator with alot of followers. However, there was medical evidence that the way she was shot in the clavical, she could not be the shooter, but rather had her hands up in the air. I wasn't there. If anyone did some research on her lawyers whom most where not an african american, they would see the possiblility of someone who has doubts she commited this particular crime. I'm not one of them and Being that she robbed banks, possibly killed a herion dealer, toting guns, and was involved in bank robberies, she's needs to be apprehended for those crimes and critiqued about the shooting of NJSP Foerester.

Change the subject to President Bush, (well HE did such and such), or call those that bring this information forward names does not change the facts. Call me a racist, bigot or whatever you want, I do not care. I will speak the truth about anyone including my INFORMED opinion. Not the opinion that someone else have told me I need to believe in. I will research any and all ideas and find out what they mean and what will or should occur if implemented and then I will use my best judgement. Obama is a socialist who does not like the United States being operated as a Republic, which is the way our Constitution has directed us, and he wishes to destroy that way of life. He does not believe that the USA is any better than the lowest third world country. He dislikes the police and thinks LEO's are bigoted fools that "act stupidly" whenever a black person is involved. Obama is highly prejudiced at least and I suspect he is really a Bigot. He was born in the USA but he was not raised as an American and does not feel 'connected' to Americans. He needs to be defeated in the next presidential election, period. Additionally the ultra left wing that includes the likes of Reid and Pelosi also need to be removed from office as they are bent of destroying the Republic. They also do not need to be replaced by the ultra right but by those who have common sense and believe in hard work and getting this once great nation back to where it once was, the Greatest and most powerful Nation in the world!

“The president opposes those kinds of lyrics,” said Carney. Common “is known as a socially conscious hip-hop artist or rapper, who in fact, has done, a lot of good things,” offered Carney. “You can oppose some of what he’s done and appreciate some of the other things he’s done.”

ESU, I reiterate, I don't and never did Like IceT, as he used to portray himself as some "pimp-gangster", I have 4 daughters who probably couldn't tell you who IceT is. Sorry to hear he (IceT) hasn't matured by now age aprox 45, it's even sadder that he's twittering this for his fans to see.
