Trooper Arrests Illegal Alien with 12 Aliases in Traffic Stop

Boston Herald

April 21, 2011

Boston — An illegal alien with 12 aliases, 10 outstanding warrants and disfigured fingerprints was nabbed Sunday in Wakefield after he handed a fake driver’s license to a trooper, state police said.

Lorenzo Echevacia, 39, of Brockton, was arraigned Tuesday in Malden District Court on the motor vehicle charges and then transported to Middlesex Superior Court on the outstanding warrants, most of which were for felonies, state police said. These included several drug distribution cases, and a 10-year-old rape and kidnapping case from Saugus.

It was also discovered Echevacia, who told the trooper his name was “Willie Rosa,” was deported in 2004 and had entered the country illegally, state police said. Echevacia was approached by a trooper who saw him walking away from a damaged 1999 Honda Accord in Wakefield on Sunday.

The suspect’s fingerprints, which police said were “purposefully altered,” but a close-enough match was made to identify the suspect as Echevacia.
