WGCL-TV reports that Athens-Clarke County Senior Officer Tony Howard continues to improve after his release from the hospital.
Officials say 33-year-old Jamie Hood, who is charged with killing Athens-Clarke County Senior Office Elmer “Buddy” Christian and wounding Howard, waived an initial court hearing Monday. His attorney did not return phone calls.
Police staged a manhunt in the Athens area for days before Hood turned himself in on Friday.
Athens Police Capt. Clarence Holeman said Hood is also a “possible suspect” in the killing of Kenneth Omari Wray, a county public works employee who was gunned down outside his home on Dec. 28.
