San Antonio Officer Killed In Wrong-Way Wreck

Associated Press

March 15, 2011

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police say an officer and a suspected drunken driver have been killed in a wrong-way accident on Interstate 35.

Police say 27-year-old Officer Stephanie Brown was in her patrol car and responding to a call early Tuesday when the head-on collision happened. Brown died at a San Antonio hospital.

The name of the man driving the SUV the wrong way on I-35, near downtown San Antonio, was not immediately released. Police say he was dead at the scene. The police report of the wreck says the SUV’s headlights were not on.

Brown had been on the force for three years.

    Dedicated to Officer Stephanie Brown:

    Always remember that you were braver than you believed;
    You were stronger than you might have seemed;
    You were smarter than you ever thought;
    And you were loved more than you'll ever know.

    My sincerest condolences to the family, friends and the Brothers & Sisters you left behind at the San Antonio Police Department. May God welcome you with open arms and offer comfort to all who now grieve their loss.
