Deputy Killed In Head-On Collision
March 05, 2011
FRANKLIN, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy was killed when his patrol car and a pickup truck collided in a head-on crash.
Officials say 59-year-old Heard County Deputy Willie Amos Cammon of Franklin was killed on Georgia Highway 100 near Yates Road.
A Georgia State Patrol official says the driver of the pickup – 41-year-old Charles Grady Green of Woodland, Ala. – was arrested and charged with following too closely, second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to maintain his lane.
Investigators say Green tried to go around another car that had stopped or slowed when his Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed head-on into the deputy’s patrol car. Green was not injured.
