DENVER (AP) – A man wanted in the slaying of a 27-year-old woman 15 years ago in Denver has been arrested in Las Vegas.

Denver authorities say Chester Leroy Todd had been wanted ever since the discovery of Sherri Lynn Majors’ body in a downtown alley on March 18, 1996.

Authorities say Todd was a truck driver at the time of the slaying. He allegedly abandoned his tractor trailer at a truck stop in Sioux City, Iowa shortly after the slaying when he learned a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Police learned his whereabouts earlier this week and arrested him Tuesday. He was being held without bond as he awaits extradition to Colorado.

Jail records show the 66-year-old is scheduled to appear before a judge March 12. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
