I understand that some COPS are lazy and don;t want to put the work into the DUI process, but it is SO important and if the agency has the right people available to help, then they should have no excuse for not finding and processing DUIs.

Interesting read. It is necessary to get DWI drivers off the roadway. Keep in mind some cops are lazy and some are boozers who find it easier to call a cab or allow the drivers to continue on their way. Years ago a friend of mine stopped an impaired driver and allowed him to drive. The motorist was stopped by another officer and arrested for DWI only a few miles from the initial check. My friend was terminated. He himself was a boozer and wanted to cut the motorist a break and it cost him in the long run. Career down the tubes.

PHX is number 4 on the list because of our high attention to DUI enforcement, from our 2 full DUI motor squads, to our numerous DUI Inter-Agency programs. Plus having our officers trained as DRE's and Phlebotomists help!

Where are these statistics coming from? I have to believe that if they are from the number of DUI arrests, then that is a credit to the Law Enforcement officers in that area. I think it would be a good thing! The more DUI arrests, the better the officers. If a big city has a low DUI rate, then that tells me that it is not a high priority for that agency, and this is scary! So when I hear of a high DUI arrest rate, I applaud the police and feel safer in that community.
