Two Men Killed In Collision With Patrol Car

Associated Press

December 29, 2010

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Two men died in a car crash after turning into the path of a Lee County Sheriff’s deputy.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened late Tuesday when a Toyota Camry driven by 64-year-old John J. Jamison crashed into the patrol car. Sheriff’s deputy Karl E. Rudzitis was not seriously injured.

The patrol car struck the right side of the Camry, sending it down an embankment. The men in the Camry were not wearing seat belts.

Authorities say Jamison, of Riverside, Ill., and his 39-year-old passenger, Michael J. Lisuzzo, of Lombard, Ill., were killed on impact.

Despite the lack of information on the cause... A Deputy was injured and two innocents were killed in this accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Deputy for a full and speedy recovery, and to the family and friends of the deceased; may they rest in peace.

To be honest this is all the info available at the moment. I was friends with Mike Lisuzzo and he worked at the same company as me. I spoke with him on Christmas eve and was suppose to go on a business trip with him a few days ago but he went on vacation instead. The older gentleman in the car was his uncle. Mike was a warm hearted guy and will be missed...

Only other info I could find was: crash was at 11:35pm; Deputy was Southbound on US41, Camry was Northbound; Camry made a left turn in front of the Deputy (turning into a Plaza); neither of the fatally injured were wearing seatbelts; the stretch of road this occurred on is a 50 mph zone; Deputy treated for minor injuries. Crash is still under investigation.

Speedy Recovery to the Deputy. Prayers to the Families of the 2 that were fatally injured.

Unfortunate, speedy recovery mentally and physically to Deputy Rudzitis and sympathy to the families of Mr Jamison and Mr Lisuzzo.
