Federal authorities went on an early Easter egg hunt just two days before Christmas at Los Angeles International Airport. A 23-year-old Miami man was arrested Dec. 23 for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 14 pounds of cocaine disguised as pastel-shaped Easter egg candies with an estimated street value of $100,000, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Monday. Esteban Galtes faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted of importing a controlled substance, ICE officials said. He was scheduled on Monday to appear at federal court in Los Angeles.
