Amber Alert Issued By Virginia State Police

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (AP) – Virginia State Police and Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse have issued an Amber Alert for Brittany Mae Smith. Brittany is 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, with straight brown hair and brown eyes.

The 12 year old was last seen on December 2 on Fort Lewis Circle in Salem, Virginia. She is believed to be in extreme danger.

The alert was issued Monday after police found the body of her mother, 41-year-old Tina Smith, inside a home in Salem. Her death is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Investigators believe Brittany was abducted by a friend of her mother’s, 32-year-old Jeffrey Scott Easley. They may be traveling in a 2000 red Chevrolet SUV, with Virginia tags: XPR-4366. Or they may be in the victim’s mother’s vehicle, which is missing. That vehicle is a 2005 Dodge 4-door sedan, license number VA-XKF2365.
