Student Hostage-Taker Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

December 01, 2010

MARINETTE, WI – A teenager who held fellow classmates hostage at a Wisconsin school Monday night has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

The 15-year-old sophomore from Marinette High School was pronounced dead this morning, according to Police Chief Jeff Skorik.

Skorik says the teenager gave no reason for holding 23 students and a teacher at gunpoint in a classroom for five hours.

Police say the boy, who had two handguns, shot himself as police burst into the classroom Monday night. None of the hostages was hurt during the ordeal.
