Officer Killed in Drunk Driver Collision
Associated Press
November 26, 2010
TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Authorities say a New Jersey police officer headed home after work was killed when a drunken driver crashed into his vehicle on the Garden State Parkway.
Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford says a car driven by 32-year-old Officer Jason Marles was rear-ended by a BMW early Thursday. Marles’ car spun, hit a guardrail and overturned before striking a tree and bursting into flames.
Marles was pronounced dead at the scene. He was still in uniform.
The BMW driver, 31-year-old Erick P. Uzcategui of Manchester Township, was charged with vehicular homicide and drunken driving. He was held on $250,000 bail. A telephone listing for him could not be found, and police did not know if he had an attorney.
Marles was a married father of two children.

Rest in Peace brother. But by the grace of God I am alive after an almost identical accident. I hope God grants you a special place in heaven.

Rest in Peace Brother.
A perfect reason why I have ZERO Tolerance for DUI's; too many of our Brothers and Sisters are killed each year, and thousands more are killed because of these POS DUI drivers; yet there are still some officers that can't find the time, or feel the need to arrest a DUI. If that many people were killed each year by a serial killer every cop in the Country would be out to get him.... Wake up, because the next time it could be you on a traffic stop, directing traffic, or on your way home after a long shift... Do you part and get these a-holes off the street.

There should be stiffer penalties for DWI's and especially for those that cause bodily injuries and fatalities.
