A New Start? Sheriff Fired Captain Who Beat Him In Primary
Associated Press
November 14, 2010
SHELBY, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina sheriff who lost a Democratic primary to his captain fired his subordinate after the captain won the general election.
Cleveland County Sheriff Raymond Hamrick fired Capt. Alan Norman and three other deputies involved in the sheriff-elect’s transition team, in part because they drove department cars to interview employees for the new administration.
Hamrick told The Star of Shelby he was just enforcing department policy. Hamrick got just 2 percent of the vote in the primary that Norman won.
Norman and the three deputies said they were shocked when they were fired Friday. Norman takes over as sheriff Dec. 6.

What a petty chickens**t thing to do to someone. I would bet my retirement that Sheriff Hamrick has bent or broken a few department policies when it suited him in the past

It sounds like the good citizens did the right thing in voting this clown of a sheriff out of office. I hope these officers hire a good lawyer and go after this clown.

It looks like Sheriff Hamrick didn't like the outcome and just picked up his ball and left and likewise believes that he can make up rules along the way out of a matter of convenience. Fired the Captain and the deputies for what? Sounds like he needs to take a closer look at the Police Officer's Bill Of Rights. You can bet on it that come January, if not sooner, all that were fired will be back on the job with full pay, benefits and back-pay. With only 2% of the vote, Sheriff Hamrick doesn’t appear to be very popular and should just retire or resign.

What are things coming to when you can't even man up to something? Jeesh. How flipping childish and unprofessional. Here's a can of man, suck it up Hamrick.

My cousin was elected the new Sheriff and non of the deputies nor the Sheriff now will give him the time of day. He is just waiting for January when he is sworn in and takes over and look out, the changes they are a coming. The deputies now had better behave because they work for the conveniance of the Sheriff.
