Officials Use NFL-Styled Van to Serve Warrants

Associated Press

November 11, 2010

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) – Two constables in western Pennsylvania decided driving around in a car resembling a police cruiser was preventing them from serving warrants. So, they decided to go black and gold.

Constables Hubie Coleman and Albert Younkin used a van decorated in Steelers colors and the team logo.

Coleman says they drove up to houses and honked the horn. People came out to see them because they were curious about the van. That’s when they served the court papers.

They also play the team’s fight song when transporting people to a district judge.

The constables borrowed the van from a car dealership. They tell the Daily Courier of Connellsville that they won’t use it again since their cover is blown, but they are looking for other unique ways to get their job done.

One has to be smart when dealing with the bad guys who have all the time in the world to think of how to outsmart the good guys.

I have reservations about this tactic. For the same reason we don't use school buses and fire trucks as undercover vehicles to sneak up on bad guys. It is a safety issue for the school kids and fireman later. They are targets for retaliation.

I would hate to be the person that bought the van later from the car lot and be the victim of retaliation gunfire at a stoplight by some of the turds that went to jail in it.

    Bad idea

I like the Limo Service: J. L. THYME Limo. (Jail Time). A lot of jerks got right in for the free ride and winning a phony contest.
