San Antonio Rookie Succumbs to Hit-and-Run Injuries

SAN ANTONIO — Police announced that Officer Sergio Antillon died early Friday morning at University Hospital. Officer Antillon had been in critical condition since he was injured in an accident two weeks ago.

In a statement released by the SAPD, Chief McManus said, “ It is with great sadness that I report the death of Officer Sergio Antillon today. My prayers are with Officer Antillon’s family, friends and co-workers.”

The 25-year-old officer had just finished his shift and was on his way home, when he stopped to help someone on the side of the road.

Police say the driver who hit Antillon, Sandra Biggs was under the influence and was arrested after the crash.

Antillon was a rookie officer and had just graduated from the academy. He had only been on the force for a few months.
