BOULDER, CO – Boulder authorities are looking for a man who allegedly cut the tires on two police vehicles Saturday night then injured a police sergeant who tried to arrest him, before getting away.

The department said today that Sgt. Jim Byfield suffered a concussion, a broken elbow and a broken clavicle in the struggle about 9:40 p.m. near 11th and College streets.

The assailant was described as white, with a shaved or bald head. He was about 6 feet tall and between 180 to 220 pounds with a muscular or stocky build. He was wearing a black hoodie with white lettering on the front, police said.

In a media release, the Boulder Police Department said Byfield is a 29-year veteran assigned to the University Hill unit.

Anyone with information can call Boulder police at 303-441-1974 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 1-800-444-3776.

There is a $1,000 reward.
