WASHINGTON — Forget the Decepticons. The Transformers Monday took on D.C. Police.

In a filming area for “Transformers 3” near the National Mall Monday afternoon, a police SUV responding to an emergency with lights and sirens blaring entered an intersection at Third Street and Maryland Avenue in Southwest.

The SUV collided with a yellow Chevy Camaro, known to “Transformers” fans as the character Bumblebee.

The Camaro T-boned the SUV, but appeared to suffer the brunt of the damage. Its front end caved in, and workers promptly covered up the damaged car.

D.C. Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump says an officer suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to a hospital.

Crump says the crash is under investigation and that filming on closed Washington streets has been suspended until safety procedures are reviewed.

Movie filming or not I do believe the driver will be sited for Failure to yield..Now the question is will they leave this in the movie or cut it out? I for one think they'll leave it in and make a scene for it to fit in.

Wow! Can't really blame either driver. The ambulance found the street a necessary option too.

What they didn't say in the article was that this officer was on a different frequency. Im sure if he was on the same frequencies as the other officers in the area he would have opted to take another street. Glad he is ok.

I loved watching them film this movie here! Of coarse it was his fault. Poor bumblebee!

So what makes it okay to NOT yield to an emergency vehicle? Nothing, including filming a movie.

So here we will tow your car to impound, and here's your citation for failure to yield. Have a good shoot.

Glad everyone was ok. Interesting how the Fox news clip reported that he was a K-9 and bomb technician, but didn't mention what type of call he was responding too. Depending on the call, sometimes the fastest route is the better route, even if they are shooting a movie.

There's something for the DVD bonus features. I think is a little funny how Bumble Bee was totaled and the SUV's fender was bent a little.

hmmm emergency equipment was activated regardless if the "scene" is closed for a movie production, if that is the quickest route to an emergency call then so be it. However with totality of the situation and that fact that this is DC, an alternate route would have been better.
