BRADFORD, Vt. — A 39-year-old New Hampshire fugitive is in a Vermont jail after he was captured following a standoff that ended when police fired tear gas into an abandoned house where he had been hiding.
The Vermont State Police say Sean McGurk of Manchester, N.H., had been wanted since he eluded police following a high speed chase last month in both Vermont and New Hampshire.
On Wednesday, police learned that McGurk was staying in the abandoned house in Bradford.
Police from Vermont and New Hampshire and U.S. Marshals surrounded the house. He refused to come out.
Police say troopers fired tear gas into the residence and he was apprehended inside.
McGurk is facing a variety of charges. He’s being held on $75,000 bail.
