State Trooper Injured in I-95 Crash

October 04, 2010

WASHINGTON – A Virginia State Police trooper was struck and several others injured in a three-car crash on northbound Interstate 95 near Dale City.

Only one lane is getting by on northbound I-95 just north of Exit 158/Prince William Parkway but before Exit 160/Route 123, WTOP Traffic Reporter Bob Marbourg says.

Police say the state trooper was outside their cruiser when he or she was hit shortly after 1 p.m. Monday.

The crash occurred one mile south of the Route 123 exit in Prince William County.

Two Medevac helicopters landed on the road to transport the injured. The trooper was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

One other person was also flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

Details of the crash are still being investigated.

WTOP will have more information as it becomes available.
