Officers Recapture Stabbing Suspect After Jumping Bail

NORWICH, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut authorities say a man charged with stabbing and kidnapping his ex-wife before leading police on a 50-mile chase on the Massachusetts Turnpike has been recaptured after he posted bail using a fake letter from a dead lawyer.
Norwich police say they arrested 39-year-old Eric Stiggle of New London Tuesday night.
Authorities say Stiggle missed a court date Tuesday and a state judge ordered him rearrested with bail set at $2.5 million. Prosecutors say he used the bogus letter to convince a bondsman to post his more than $1.3 million bail Monday.
Police say Stiggle stabbed his ex-wife in Bridgeport on May 30 and forced her into a car. The ordeal ended the next day, when Stiggle crashed the car in Chatham, N.Y., during a chase that began in Holyoke, Mass. The woman survived.

Bond for a violent, repeat offender ?? Are you kidding ?!?!?!? The judge was a moron for allowing bond, and the bondsman was a moron for putting up the money !!!!

Oh good grief, his last crime could have been avoided if they would have put this one in a cage after his September 2004 offense.

Sometimes the truth is less believable then a lie, what kinda bondsman post a 1.3m based on a (fake) letter from a lawyer, I dont care if were a real one from Pres. Obama 1.3 is 1.3 on the line he dont show. This bondsman makes me wanna come out of retirement n go catch all his no shows n bad writes. Which sound pretty profitable if he is doing dumbass stuff like that! Oh n great catch by the officer's.

It should have been no bond to begin with. Given his history, he needs to stay jailed.
