ENFIELD, CT (AP)- A 22-year veteran of the Connecticut State Police has been killed in a serious crash on I-91 in Enfield.

It happened just after 4 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway by exit 48.

Trooper Kenneth Hall had just pulled a commercial vehicle over and was sitting in his cruiser when he was struck by a pickup truck according to State Police Spokesman Lt. Paul Vance.

The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured but the driver of the pickup and passenger were seriously injured.

State Police officials say Hall was assigned to the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit and had celebrated his 22nd anniversary from the Police Academy just yesterday.

Trooper Hall, of Hartford, is survived by his wife and children.

The highway remains closed northbound from Exit 48 to 49.
