Driver Tries to Drag Trooper During Traffic Stop

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — New Hampshire State Police say a driver tried to drag a trooper away during a traffic stop on Interstate 93.

WMUR-TV reports Trooper Chad Lavoie stopped a car for going 89 mph in a 65 mph zone near exit 4 in Londonderry.

Lavoie said as he approached the vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jeff Therrien of Manchester, Therrien reached out, grabbed him by the left wrist and hand, and pulled him toward his window. State Police say he put his car in drive and started to pull forward.

Police say Lavoie was dragged about 10 feet or less before he was able to grab Therrien and get his feet planted enough to pull Lavoie away.

Therrien faces charges of felony reckless conduct and felony simple assault.

Felony simple assault my A###. Lavoie should be given the some type of award for not killing the guy dragging him. If it were me there would be two in Therrien head.

I was dragged during a traffic stop in LA in 1995 by a career offender. That was no fun. I was off work for a couple weeks.and strawberry city. I know what this officer went thru....

With the number of stops I pull, I have always been afraid of this, esp since I was caught in the open door of a dui stop once but I was able to get out after a few feet....
