WASHINGTON – The sheriff of the most populous county in Arizona says he’s “not going to put up with any civil disobedience” when the state’s new immigration law takes effect.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says that if protesters want to block his jail, he’ll put them in it.
The Arizona law, which takes effect Thursday, requires officers enforcing other laws to check a person’s immigration status if they suspect the person is in the country illegally.
Arpaio told ABC’s “Good Morning America” he doesn’t know “what the big hype is.”
He says it’s “a crime to be here illegally and everyone should enforce” the law.

Mayes38, That is what Joe said on the Savage show last nite. He said that ICE told him that they do not have the resources to handle all the cases that he gives them. They do have the resources though to investigate him. What a joke they are along with Big Mama Napolitano as "Homeland Security Director".

I dont know why they are arresting the illegals. As soon as I put one in jail and turn him over to ice, he is back within a week.... not because he jumped the fence, swan the river or dug under it.... THEY RELEASED HIM !

I heard Joe on the Michael Savage show yesterday, after the Judge's ruling and Joe was notthe least bit put out by it. He said that today his men will keep doing what they do everyday and that is seek out and lock up illegals, 40,000 to date. He said that they just won't be able to charge them with a state crime of being illegal at this time. He realizes that the process will take time but sees it as eventually being overturned in their favor in the appeals courts. He said that there are good parts of the law that were not touched or changed by the Judge such as giving citizens the right to sue officials of jurisdictions that refuse to enforce the existing law.

No matter how you feel about this law(or any law), there is NO JUSTIFICATION for violating others to protest it. There are legal ways of doing that, and the issue is being considered in the Courts at this moment. Those who violate the law should be dealt with appropriately--as in arrested if they block access to a jail.
