Driver Killed After Colliding With Sheriff's Deputy

GREEN BAY, WI – A driver was killed after colliding with a La Crosse sheriff’s deputy on the way to help stop a bar fight.
The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department said the collision happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. The deputy was traveling north on Wisconsin 35 with lights and siren activated when the squad car collided with a west-bound vehicle at the intersection of a county highway.
The driver of the vehicle was thrown from the vehicle and died at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. The person’s name, gender and age have not been released. The deputy, who also has not been identified, was treated for injuries and released.

I don't think any state gives blanket immunity from all traffic laws when running lights/siren, let alone immunity from crashes. This will need to play out...

NYPDALT, That is NOT the case in many if not most States! The wording of the laws are often convoluted. In SC it only states that LE vehicles may exceed the posted speed limit and not subject to local and state traffic laws. You are STILL responsible if while ignoring those laws you have an accident! Guys, be careful as you do no good unless you get there and it isn't worth losing your life over in a TC.

These are all to common.....To date this year 24 LEO's have been killed in auto related accidents. It sounds like we lucked out on this one and it's to bad someone did die. Hope the deputy was not at fault!!!!!!! 1am in the morning.............Geeee

It's sad that someone was killed during the accident. But what gets me is the Head Line. "Driver Killed After Colliding With Sheriff's Deputy". It almost sounds like the Deputy up and shot the driver of the other care. I hope the Deputy comes out of this ok and in good health.
