COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Authorities say a Facebook message led them to a couple who had custody of a girl whose body was recently found in the crawl space of a vacant Colorado home.

Hanif Sims and his girlfriend, Monique Lynch, both 29, were arrested Wednesday in Henderson, Nev. El Paso County investigators had been looking for the couple since the body of 9-year-old Genesis Sims was found in May in a town home in Monument.

El Paso County officials say detectives tracked a Facebook message the couple wrote back to Henderson.

An arrest warrant was previously issued for Sims for suspected assault and misdemeanor child abuse. Sheriff’s officials said Thursday a warrant was being prepared for Lynch for suspected child abuse resulting in death.
