Deputy Killed In Early Morning Crash

TWIGGS COUNTY, GA – A Twiggs County sheriff’s deputy was killed early this morning by a falling tree before 2 a.m. on U.S. 80 near Turkey Creek.
Richard Daniels, who was believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead of blunt head trauma at 2:15 a.m., said Twiggs County Coroner Harold Reece Jr., who is Daniels’ uncle.
Chief Deputy Billy Boney said a tree fell as Daniels was headed down the highway near mile post 6. He died at the scene.
