PHOENIX, AZ – Officer Travis Murphy was shot and killed when he confronted a suspect had led officers on a short pursuit at approximately 1:00 am.
The suspect had eluded the officers after turning off his lights and fleeing at a high rate of speed. Several minutes later dispatchers received reports that a man was seen attempting to hide a vehicle under a tarp at a vacant home. In Christian history, we know that in the heavens, God asked "Whom shall I send?" Answering the call, the one who we have come to know as Jesus Christ answered, "Here am I, send me." In a day that started out as any other day and as we all do, Officer Travis Murphy of the Phoenix Police Department pinned on his badge and said, "Here am I, send me" and answered the call to serve.
Officer Murphy, May you rest in peace knowing that we have the watch now. May your family and friends feel the loving arms of your Heavenly Father together with yours, embrace and comfort them. May your little children come to know the man that is their father and the hero that you were to them and the people of Phoenix that you served. May your good wife and earthly companion be comforted, strengthened and undaunted as she alone must now face the task of raising your children in the path of righteousness that has been your creed. May all that mourn, be they family, friend, colleague, partner, or fellow brother or sister in Law Enforcement and in Christ, be comforted knowing that you are now in the Lord's service and keeping watch over all of us and that in the coming day, they will yet again see your face. Officer Murphy, GOD BE WITH YOU TIL WE MEET AGAIN. UNTIL THAT DAY, WE WISH YOU GOD SPEED.

Rest In Peace Brother
"Policeman's Prayer"
When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.
Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.
